Black Maxi Skirt

I think this skirt is going to turn into a very versatile fall piece for me.  I can already think of a bunch of different looks I want to try with it.  The weather was still pretty nice, so I didn't have to do any layering with this outfit, but I think once it does cool off, I'll be wearing this skirt more often with boots.

Broadway Show

I'm really behind on posting my pictures/outfits from my NY trip.  This particular day we got all dressed up to go to a Broadway Show and dinner, then when we went to get tickets they ended up being more expensive than most of us wanted to pay, so we just went to dinner and I made another bridal appointment while we had some spare time.  I rationalized that I'd rather spend the money on shopping than to see a show.  And to be honest I don't know what is wrong with me, but I'm like a baby when you take me to any kind of theater, the second the lights go down, I fall right asleep.  So I really didn't want to take a $100 nap.

 Starting with Kelliann on the left, her dress is from Express.  She's a walking Express ad, she owns every dress they sell! Next, my purple dress and belt are both from H&M.  The necklace is from Bakers Shoes and the earrings are from Forever 21, purchased in June 2012.  And on the far right Chelsea's Asymmetrical midi skirt is from Forever 21, May 2012,$15.80 (Similar style here) and Necklace-Also from F21, May 2012 $12.80 (I dressed her in my clothes that day.)

Yellow and Grey III

So yeah, by now it's pretty apparent that I love yellow and grey.  I think it's a recent obsession because I didn't have a lot of yellow clothing until recently.  I actually paired this outfit together months ago, probably in April or so.  Every once in awhile I'll find some extra time on my hands to get on Pinterest and steal all their outfit ideas, then I go to my closet to see what I can make with everything I already have.  I put little outfits together and hang them up in the front of my closet so when I'm having a lazy morning I can grab a pre-coordinated outfit and look like I actually attempted to look decent for work instead of rolling out of bed 10 minutes before I have to leave.  I used a great scheme back when I was partying 4 nights a week, mostly on school nights (I use the term school nights because I was acting out as if I were a child, but I really mean week nights). I would dress up super cute for work after a long night of drinking so no one knew how hungover I really was.  If you show up in jeans, a hoody and UGGS you just look suspect of a late night.  I'd use a cute dress and sandals to mask the fact that if I were to lay my head down on my desk for one second I'd pass right out (which has happened before).  But I wanted to get this outfit worn before it started getting chilly, even though I think it would look really cute with a pair of knee high boots as well.

Cozy Travel

I wore this outfit on my day of travel into NYC.  The flight was only an hour, but I still wanted to be comfortable during the car ride, sitting in the airport, and on the plane.  This is the Marcy equivilent to sweatpants.  A cotton maxi skirt, Long stretchy tank, and of course a hat, I can’t be the only person who just feels greasy after being in an airport/airplane.  So it’s nice to have a hat to keep my hair covered.  Especially if I take a little snooze on the plane I can throw my hat back on to cover my sleep hair.  I also wore a jean jacket since it’s usually chilly on planes, but once we got into the city it was way too hot for a jacket.

White After Labor Day

So this has been a controversial topic among fashionistas as of late.  Although we've all come to the conclusion that you can indeed wear white after labor day.  Here is a white dress I wore, fashioned in a manner that is post Labor Day acceptable.  And I must brag about the awesome deal I got on it! I was shopping at Express for a new shirt and tie for Trey to wear to the Wedding we went to last month and as I was walking to the register I had to pass the sale rack and that is where I spotted this white eyelet dress.  I immediately grabbed it and said to myself "please be a 6, please be a 6!" and to my delight it was indeed a size 6! The only one in the store! On sale for $39.99, down from $98 then was an additional 40% off! It was definitely my lucky day!

NYC Style

While I was in NYC last month I saw numerous girls wearing similar outfits.  It's actually what clinched my decision on buying white Chucks.  I like the dressy-ness of the trousers and blazer, then dressed down look of a casual tee and sneakers.  I also saw variations of this outfit with leggings, skinny jeans, and I plan on trying it with colored skinnies.  With fall upon us, I will most likely be wearing more outfits like this.

Blue Suede Shoes

 It got chilly for a few days and I wasn't used to wearing jeans to work, especially not with a long sleeved shirt.  This sheer top was pretty light, but I definitely felt like I was dressing for fall.  I could have went either way with this outfit, it would be cute with a pair of flats as well (and I just got cobalt blue flats) but I already felt a little like a lumberjack with the plaid shirt and jeans, so I wanted to give it a girly feel with the heels.

Splurge VS. Save

Today I'm featuring items that I bought while I was in NYC last month.  I saw both items at Zara, but couldn't justify spending so much money on a studded flannel shirt that I might only wear once or twice.  I bought the belt from Zara since it was only $19.90, but ended up taking it back once I found the exact same belt at Necessary Clothing for $7.99.

A Night at the Winery

About once a month, I get together with my mom and a group of our girlfriends for dinner. (Mostly mother and daughter combos) I come straight from work so I wanted an outfit that would go from the office to the winery.  I love mixing patterns, and stripes with floral happens to be one of my favorites.  I threw on the bubble necklace to dress it up a bit, then the flat sandals to dress it down.  Typically I'd wear wedges with this outfit, but knew the winery was outside and has some gravel and grass areas that would be difficult for walking in wedges.  We had some wonderful wine, reds are my favorite, but I enjoy whites and sweets in the summer.

What are some of your favorite wines? And for anyone in the Cali area, check out my Aunt and Uncle's Winery, Kiamie.  They have delicious blends of mostly reds, and some whites.  It's definitely my favorite wine :)
