Happy Birthday To Me :)

So, as you probably don't know, yet, my birthday was July 20th.  The Big 28! It came and went so fast, as I was away camping at the legendary Jamboree in the Hills, which is a 4 day country concert down in southern Ohio/West Virginia.  You camp out, drink Busch Light, and it's pretty much a giant hill billy festival.  One place that I keep my nice clothes at home, bust out some old ripped Abercrombie jeans and flip flops (I NEVER wear flip flops in real life) and don't worry about looking fashionable.

Here are a few pics, just to get an idea of how straight hill billy this thing really is...

Behind me is a Bud Light slip 'N' slide. Yes, this is real life!

My homemade Birthday Bitch shirt, made with iron on letters!

A shot of the crowd behind us, we were front row for Jason Aldean :)

Regardless, it came and went so fast I never really got to celebrate, OR get presents!!! With the combining of bank accounts between me and my fiance, surprising me with a present wouldn't really be a surprise, so Trey told me to just buy myself whatever I wanted.  Thoughtful? not really.  Did I get exactly what I wanted? Absolutely!

So I finally sat down and thought about what I wanted for my birthday and today, I got around to doing my online comparisons to make sure I got the best prices.  And it was definitely my lucky day!

The first thing I decided I wanted was fall boots, but not just any boots, I really wanted the western/cowboy boot style.  I already have a pair I wear for country concerts, but they're not really practical for every day wear.  I found this pair from a fellow fashion blogger What She Wore 365.  She got this amazing pair of Volatile "Denver" boots from DSW.  After combing the world wide web for every site that sells them, I found the best deal on Shiekh shoes, I got them in black, because I think they will go with more.  I used the discount code MIL20 and got an additional 20% off!   I plan to wear them with a sundress on my trip to NYC next week!

The second thing I wanted was a new watch.  Trey got me one for our first Valentine's Day together, but I dropped it on ceramic tile and cracked the face.  I still wear it from time to time, as a bracelet pretty much, it stopped telling time, but thought it was time for a new one.  I am really into the pastel colored watches, I either wanted lavender or a light pink, and settled on the Nixon Time Teller I saw on ASOS, but after my extensive deal searching, found the same watch at Department of Goods for $37.48! Talk about a Happy Birthday!

Then to top it off, Express sent me a $40 gift card for my birthday, I thought I usually only got $15, but who am I to argue with their gift?! I ended up getting a bag that I only paid $10 for.

So all in all, I am happy with my gifts, Thanks Trey! You're the best =) But I'm also so happy I found the best deals that I won't feel too bad if I splurge a little in the Big Apple next week ;)

Happy Friday!

It's been officially my first week as a blogger.  (Too bad I have no audience, yet!) But I'm just getting into the habit of snapping some quick pics of my outfits before work and making sure I sign on here and write about them.  I really thought it would take up more time than it actually does.  Today I took another tip that I've seen on other fashion blogs, and I wore a dress as a skirt.  I've never layered a shirt OVER a dress before, I usually would layer a shirt under, but I liked this concept.  Especially because the top of the dress is a greenish teal and I was dying to wear my teal wedges again but it was just WAY too much teal. So I layered this beige top over my strapless dress from target and voila!

Blue Moon

My post title comes from the fact that I am drinking a blue moon as I write this, and ironically I am also featuring my new cobalt blue Kitten Flare pants from Victoria's Secret, on sale now for $19.99. Seriously a great deal! I originally ordered The Kate Flare in bionic blue, and after having to send them back twice, then on the third attempt for the correct length they were discontinued! Personal note to self: When ordering pants from VS, order a 34 length when you want them long enough with heels! I could never remember the length I needed, I used to go by the rule of thumb that I would order the middle length when ordering pants to wear without heels, and the longest for pants with heels, well, they now carry a 36 length! Apparently for some 6'4" woman who needed Victoria's Secret pants.  How tall do you have to be for a 36 length?! I think my 6'0" fiance only wears a 34 length.  Regardless, this post is getting WAY off topic (I blame the blue moon).  Well, I already talked about my pants, the rest of the outfit is relatively simple.  I liked the black and white contrast with the bright blue pants. And I felt it needed a nice statement necklace, so I dug this one out of my preciously tucked away necklaces that I usually only bust out when I have on a fancy strapless dress, but figured, what the hell?!

Sorry for the rambling, but I warn you, this won't be the last post I write buzzed, or even drunk for that matter!

xoxo,
Marcy

Summer Classic

I've seen this look on multiple fashion blogs, and also again last night while I was running into the mall.  It's pretty over-done if I do say so myself.  But I have been looking for a chambray top, or some type of a sheer blouse to wear over this maxi dress since I bought the maxi dress at the end of March.  I FINALLY came across one at Forever 21 last week (similar style, here) and now, of course, they have a bunch of them! This maxi already has elastic around the waist, so it didn't need the cinching of the shirt, but I think it just adds a little something to an otherwise plain dress.

*Disclaimer* Please do not mind the mess of a closet in the background.  I just got back from a 5 day camping trip and have been non-stop ever since, I just threw my bags in my closet and went on with my life.

Chambray button down-Forever 21, July 2012
Sandals-Burlington Coat Factory, June 2011
Necklace and Bangles-Aldo
Watch-Kenneth Cole, a gift from Santa, AKA my mother and she got it at TJ Maxx.
What the hell, I'll probably never be wearing them in another picture.
Glasses-Walmart Vision Center, lol! I honestly think they're Walmart brand, they cost like $35!

The dress covers the sandals anyhow, but it's the first time I've worn them all summer!

I wanted to get a close-up of the watch/bangle mixture, I'm pretty sure the bangles are from two different sets, (Similar styles here and here.) but I have them clumped together by "gold bangles" and "silver bangles", so it is possible the sets are all mixed up.  But I know the gold with the black ribbon came in a set from Aldo that also included stretchy pearl bracelets, in October 2009.

Hot and Humid

So I woke up this morning to go to the gym at 5:15am and when I stepped out of the door the humidity was so thick, I knew it was going to be a hot one.  So I did something I've never done before and I decided to wear shorts to work today.  I work in a very casual office (yesterday was my first day back after a long camping weekend and the only thing I had with me was ripped jeans and a hoodie) so I don't think it's a huge deal to wear shorts, but I've never been the one to stretch the limits then all of a sudden there is a "dress code" for the office.  But I just got these white shorts in the mail from Forever 21 last night and didn't want to wait to wear them.  I thought if I paired them with a dressy blouse and flat sandals it would take away from the fact that my shorts probably aren't an appropriate length for the office. I apologize again for my janky, self portraits with an iPhone, I will eventually get some better quality pictures.  Have a Fabulous Tuesday, and Happy Birthday to one of my best friends, Cara!

Dirty Pretty Things

So, I haven't got very into my blogging yet, mainly because I wanted to take nice professional grade pictures, but I have no one to take them.  So for now, I'll post what I can, when I can, and hope this doesn't fizzle out like our sisters blog did.

Featured here are my favorite bracelets, I pretty much wear them anytime I don't wear a watch.  The silver and the pink are both from Dirty Pretty Things, Here and Here.  The Charcoal one I got at a random gift shop on Fremont St. in Las Vegas, I got a green one also, so I can mix and match and stack as many bracelets as possible. I also like to use cheap elastic pearl bracelets from Aldo Accessories.

OH! and I can't forget to mention my stunning Henri Daussi engagement ring :)
