Introduction to Marcy 101

I haven't shared a lot of information on my blog yet, so here are 25 random facts about myself!

Below is one of my favorite quotes, I have it hanging on our bedroom wall and try to read it daily, just as a reminder what this life is all about.

  1. My fiance's name is Trey, short for Frank George III.  Trey comes from 3 in Latin. We got engaged February 17, 2012.  Maybe one day I will share the engagement video, it makes me cry every time!
  2. I am a snowboarder and have been snowboarding for 12 years.
  3. I live in Akron, OH.  Home of LeBron James, and yes, I am bitter about him leaving to play for Miami.
  4. I used to be a caffeine addict but I stopped drinking caffeine about 3 months ago.
  5. I have loved clothes and fashion for as long as I can remember.  I have home videos of Christmas when I was 5 years old, more excited, screaming and jumping up and down over outfits, rather than toys.
  6. I drive a Dodge Stratus.  Haha, actually, I'm kidding, I drive a Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible, but I LOVE to quote movies, shows, anything really.  And if you get that quote, then we would get along very well!
  7. My favorite US city is San Francisco.
  8. I would rather shop, than gamble in Vegas.  (Honestly, what girl wouldn't?!)
  9. I love to run and have ran 2 half marathons.  I'd love to run a full marathon at least once in my life.
  10. I am not obsessed with my iPhone, in fact, I kind of hate it.  I think I'm more an Android girl.
  11. I couldn't possibly pick just one favorite movie, I honestly love so many movies, mostly comedies. And I love to quote old stupid movies, like, I'm talking Jurassic Park and Twister.  I've also been known to quote the Flintstone's movie, you know, the 1994 version with John Goodman.
  12. I refuse to buy a new car because a car payment will cut into my shopping.  Slightly irresponsible of me, but what can I say, I'd rather get out of a crappy car and have on nice clothes, then get out of a nice car and be dressed in old clothes.
  13. I have had every hair color imaginable! I've gone from bleach blonde, to black, to magenta red! Maybe one day I'll post pics.
  14. I graduated from Kent State University in 2006 with a bachelors in Business and a focus on Marketing.
  15. I own over 100 pairs of shoes and over 100 dresses.  Coming from a fashion blogger, I don't think those numbers are shocking, although others argue with me about that being "normal".
  16. I want to own a pair of Louboutins one day, but what girl doesn't?! Trey said he would buy me a pair for my wedding present, but now I'm debating if the money would be better spent towards something else for our wedding.
  17. I have two sisters who are my best friends.  I am the middle child.  My older sister lives in DC, while my younger sister lives in Philly.
  18. I will rationalize spending $200 on new boots, but not on new tires.
  19. I work a second job to afford my shopping habit.  I've already been wildly in debt and I've almost got it all paid off. (4 more payments!)  I now know how to live on a budget and spend frugally.  But without my second job I could never shop like I do now.
  20. I require at least 4 vacations a year.  See #19.  That is also to afford my vacationing habit.  I just love to travel and can't turn down a spur of the moment trip if someone invites me along.
  21. I love wine and margarita's.  Pretty much any and all alcohol.  I wouldn't consider myself an alcoholic, but I do love to drink.  21 seemed like a good number to get out that confession.
  22. I've gone sky diving in San Diego.  It was the scariest/most amazing thing I've ever done.  I am afraid to walk from my car to my apartment at night (so I run) but I'll go sky diving.
  23. I am recently obsessed with How I Met Your Mother.  I can't believe I've never watched it before, it's such a great show! I'm watching them in sequence on Netflix.
  24. I would rather wear heels than flats.  Honestly flats hurt my feet worse than heels.  I have a really high arch, my foot was just made to be in a heel.  When I wear flats for too long I get a cramp in my arch.
  25. I am overall a really happy person.  I love my life, my family and friends.  I am very friendly, outgoing and I like (almost) everybody I meet.  So feel free to introduce yourself to me, I would love to meet my readers (once I have some, lol).

Party Pants

I never thought I'd do the 'pleather' pants look again after looking back in horror at a silver pair I got from Gadzooks in 1999.  But here I stand in 2012 wearing another pair.  I guess when it comes to fashion, we can all take a piece from the book of Bieber, and "never say never".  I'm actually really loving these pants and the versatility they have.  They can take any outfit that I'd typically just wear with skinny jeans and give it a bit of fashion flair.

Transition into Fall

It's officially fall here in Ohio.  I keep seeing other blogs where the weather is still nice, well, not for me.  Last year it stayed nice well into October, but it started getting chilly about 2 weeks ago and last week I had to wear a coat to work every morning! It's a bitter sweet feeling, as I've mentioned before, but I am just not ready to give up my summer clothes yet.  I saw this look on Pinterest and was waiting for the weather to get cooler to try it.  I'll probably do a similar look again with these black dress shorts I got from Express on sale at the end of last summer and still have yet to wear them.  I have a horrible habit of saving [hoarding] clothes for awhile, then I dig them up from a drawer 3 years later and realize the tags are still attached.  So I'm really looking for ways to transition some summer pieces that I have yet to wear (or I'm not ready to retire), into fall outfits.

Of course it always looks way cuter on the model.
Oh to be tall and skinny....

Pattern Mixing

I've been sick the past week, so I've been looking for more cozy outfits to wear to work.  (Hence my blog getting lazy as of late and I've been posting old outfits I wore awhile ago) I just got this cheetah scarf from target and have been loving pattern mixing lately, so I decided to pair it with this striped top.  This outfit is my equivalency to sweats-leggings and a stretch cotton open shirt.  I'm hoping I feel better soon, I can't take this cold for much longer :-/

(I took these pics at night and it was too dark in my room I had to use the flash, so don't mind the bit of flash reflecting off the mirror)

Leopard & Lace

I was pleased to see Leopard print making a comeback, not necessarily because I like leopard print, I'm actually not a huge fan, but I have a few items from forever ago (circa 2006) that I can finally wear again without looking like I'm really behind on my fashion.

September Purchases

Since I purchased my wedding dress at the end of August, (and I'm physically ill over how much I spent) I was supposed to take a shopping hiatus for the month of September.  Well, for anyone who knows me, that is somewhat impossible.  It didn't exactly happen, although I didn't buy that much stuff.  Starting this month I'm going to try documenting my buys for the month, even though I'm sure they'll get less and less exciting as the wedding gets closer and I'm on even stricter shopping lock-down.  But here is what I bought in the month of September:

Wrap bracelet from KR Designs, a local company I discovered though Facebook. They can be custom designed in any colors you'd like.  I picked neutral colors that would match mostly anything I wore. (I also love pairing it with my rose gold watch)
Cheetah Scarf-Target.  I have been seeing animal prints (mostly leopard) a lot lately and wanted to jump in on this trend.  Although I'm not the biggest fan of classic leopard, I thought this was a different spin on the leopard print.
Cross rhinestone bracelet-Pretty Precious Jewelry.  (I got it from Etsy, but she said she charges less through Facebook because she doesn't have to pay the Etsy fees)
Stripe Dress-Forever 21 I've already worn it twice, it's such a versatile piece.  I knew I had to have one after seeing this post on Penny Pincher Fashion
Flats-Burlington Coat Factory $12.99.  I've been trying to expand my collection of flats, I actually just recently started wearing them.  As I get older, I realize I can't wear heels everyday.  As much as I'd love to.
Pleather 'Party Pants'-Forever 21. The term 'Party Pants' came about in Vegas when my cousin bought a pair and wore them when we went to the club, then proceeded to call them her Party Pants the entire trip.  Pleather pants will forever be known to me as 'Party Pants'.
Lace up boots-barefeetshoes.com. I can't wait to wear these more this fall! They'll look cute with skirts, jeans and leggings.

I also got a few other items not listed here.  A color block pleated skirt from F21 (Similar style), a short sleeved LBD from Forever 21 and I'm in the process of making a DIY rhinestone collar necklace.  I actually showed a lot of restraint this month.  I passed up quite a few shopping opportunities and even went to the mall to pay my Macy's bill and didn't buy a single thing! For me to walk out of the mall or any store empty handed is quite a feat!
Happy October Everyone!

Gaga-Ohh la la

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with Lady Gaga, well, I should rephrase that, OLD Lady Gaga.  Poker Face Lady Gaga...not so much this new-fangled 'You and I' Lady Gaga.  I used to be mildly obsessed, I even had a phone cover made for my old Evo, it was sa-weeet!  I'm still a fan of her and always will be, even if I haven't liked a song since Bad Romance.  Today I decided to pair an old tee with a blazer and pumps.  These type of outfits are slowly becoming a go-to for me.  When I'm feeling lazy and want to put together a mindless outfit, the jeans and a tee with a blazer is my new fav.  It looks so cute and put together even though I could have easily grabbed a hoody instead of a blazer but wanted to look like I actually gave a crap.

Professional Hippie

I was leaving for Philly last Friday, and wanted something that was cute for work, but was also comfortable for driving a car 7 hours.  I headed over to the liquor store on my lunch break because I remembered PA has weird alcohol regulations, you can only buy beer and liquor at certain stores, not like Ohio where you can buy beer at the gas station and liquor at Wal-Mart.  So as I'm waiting in line to pay for my beer and grab a bottle of vodka for the weekend some dude yells over at me "Hey! I've never seen professional hippie before, can I have your autograph?" Keep in mind this was at noon on a Friday, so the quality of people in a liquor store at this time of day was a little questionable,  although I was there...but I had good cause!

Totally Random, Non Fashion Related Blog Post

As I was going through pictures on my phone the other day I realized I have over 400 pics on my iPhone, most are outfit/fashion pics, but there are so many others that took me down memory lane, starting with my trip to Vegas in March.  So I decided to share some pics of my life from the past 6 months.  I don't live the most exciting or glamorous life, but damnit, I have some f*ing fun along the way!
